I love all this gardening stuff -- and the postscript notes. Moar of this plz.
I have always believed I'd be shit at gardening/been to afraid to do it because I am also easier squicked out by a lot of bugs (and worse, I'm not great with some of the larger pests that you encounter in gardens. yikes)...but the stuff you said about building patience is...appealing and very true for me. I might have to try this against all my better judgements.
I highly recommend it. I found that going in without gardening gloves forced me to just...embrace it. There's something freeing about letting yourself get dirty while gardening.
Try out a few containers maybe? You can probably find a plant store with seedlings/transplants ready to go, plus there are a ton youtube videos to learn from.
Part of why I started was because poblano peppers are hard to find here and even when I can find them, they're pretty costly. So, going to grow my own!
I'm treating this year as a "learning year" and have been trying different things with different plants to figure out which works best. I also have one pepper plant that I planted away from the house, in a hard to reach area in our backyard. It's not getting watered or tended to, just want to see what will happen to it without any care. So far, it's doing okay, though I think it went to early and am not sure we'll get any fruit from it.

It sucks, right?
