I just got back from NYC the night before last and am still recuperating. My legs are not used to walking that much and now they’ve taken a couple of days off from being effective transportation sticks.
It was great to be back at New York Comic Con and to see folks I haven’t seen in forever. There were plenty of meals shared and walks taken. I really missed it.
Gavin Guidry and I got to hang out and do a couple of signings for the first time since starting There’s Something Wrong With Patrick Todd, which was great. He’s a pretty stellar feller.
Had an Australian Breakfast (brekkie?) with Batman Inc and Deathstroke Inc editor extraordinaire Ben Abernathy and my Batman Inc partner-in-crime, John Timms -- who’s as nice as he is talented. We hatched some plans for future arcs of Batman Inc that I cannot wait to share with you folks.
On Sunday, I sat on a panel with Ben Abernathy (again!), Paul Dano (The Riddler -- also, apparently played him in a Batman movie? Who knew?), Meghan Fitzmartin (Tim Drake Robin), Frank Tieri (Harley Screws Up The DCU) , and Ram V (Detective Comics) to discuss the future of Gotham. There’s a plethora of incredible work in the pipes that I can’t believe I get to be a part of.
I didn’t manage to snag a photo, so I’m stealing this tweet from co-panelist Meghan Fitzmartin:

It was great to be back at such a major show and to feel the excitement coursing through the halls of the Javits Center. I soaked up as much as I could and am now letting it flow through me into the projects I’m working on (or rather, should be working on instead of writing this newsletter).
Batman Incorporated #1 Out Today!
I’ve talked about this one a bunch already. I’m thrilled to have it out in the world. I love this book so much and have been dying to share it with everyone.
Official solicit:
NO MORE TEACHERS, PART 1
From the pages of Batman comes an all-new, all-exciting adventure for Ghost-Maker and his Batman Incorporated team! The team's trust issues and detective skills are immediately put to the test when someone from Ghost-Maker and Batman's recent past is brutally murdered…Is this an isolated event, sending a message to the two? Or is this the start of something darker and more sinister? (Hint—it's sinister and dark!)
I am incredibly lucky to be working with the obscenely talented and kind John Timms, superstar colorist Rex Lokus, lettering royalty Clayton Cowles, and legend
Ben Abernathy.
I feel like we’ve really put John through the paces. We’re introducing a few new major players through the first arc, including Black Mist -- an Irish Batman Inc adjacent member who you’ll all meet in the first issue (she’s also got her own variant cover, see below!). Overall, he’s had to design roughly 10-12 new characters, half of them will play a major role in No More Teachers, and the other half…well, you’ll have to read to find out. But, no matter how major or minor, John has treated each as though he was designing for the star of the book.
If you’re not convinced by the solicitation and covers, how about checking out the first few pages?
And variant coverss! You like those? We’ve got variant covers galore!
To tempt those of you who might be on the fence: If you pick up Batman Inc #1 this week, take a pic and post it in the comments or on your socials, making sure to tag me (at @edbrisson on twitter or @ed_brisson on Instagram). I’ll select two names at random and send each a signed variant cover of their choice.
What I’m Obsessed With This Week
When I was in NYC this past weekend, I popped into Angelina’s Bakery (which was right next to our hotel) and grabbed myself a Strawberry Croissant which was as good as it looks. So fresh and flaky and creamy. I don’t think I’ve had a croissant this good since I was in Paris. Just amazing. If you find yourself in NYC, I highly recommend them.
CHIPCLASS 2: Development
Ever wanted to write a comic? Chip Zdarsky, who apparently writes comics, has a new video up with plenty of great advice.
I was a big fan of Chip’s dad, but am a little sick of clowns using their parent’s Hollywood connections to get them work in comics. Pretty sure Chip didn’t break in by putting in years of being an asshole to everyone on Twitter like the rest of us had to.
What’s Coming Up
Here’s what I’ve got coming out in the next couple of months:
Batman Incorporated #1 (October 11)
Predator #3 (October 19)
There’s Something Wrong With Patrick Todd #4 (October 19)
Deathstroke Inc. #14 (October 25)
Predator #4 (November 2)
Batman Incorporated #2 (November 8)
Deathstroke Inc. #15 (November 22)
WildStorm 30th Anniversary Special (November 29)
There’s Something Wrong With Patrick Todd #5 (November 30)
That’s It!
Lasagna will be back next time, I promise.
Until then! Be cool.

Good to see you for a bit, bud!
Hey Ed! I’m a big fan of your crime books. I especially loved Catch & Release. So I’m looking forward to Batman Inc. Although I probably wait until the trade. I don’t buy individual comics anymore. Same for your Predator series. Hopefully we the fans can get a new AvP series. Maybe with a Phillip Kennedy Johnson co-writing. 🤞🏻
