Hey!
Hope the new year is being kind to all of you.
I’m going to keep this one short and sweet — though, I’m pretty sure I’ve said this in the opening of every newsletter and then subsequently failed to follow through on my promise.
We’ll see how I do this time around.
Updates
Not a whole lot to report. I’m plugging away on a couple of unannounced projects while also trying to wrap my mind around a couple of pitches that I want to get off the ground in 2024. I’ve also taken on some writing work outside of comics — the first time I’ve done non-comic writing in more than a decade. I’m very excited about it, but unfortunately cannot talk about it.
The Displaced
As mentioned last newsletter, I have a new creator-owned book with artist Luca Casalanguida, colorist Dee Cunniffe, and letterer Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou that’s coming your way soon. The Displaced #1 hits shops on February 14th — Valentine’s Day! I cannot think of a better gift for that special someone in your life.
What’s it about? Well, here’s a little teaser:
The city of Oshawa, Ontario and its 170,000 residents have vanished without a trace.
No one remembers it even existed.
Those who remain must seek each other out if they hope to survive in a world where no one believes they ever existed at all.
THE DISPLACED #1 features main cover art by series artist Luca Casalanguida and colorist Dee Cunniffe and variant covers by highly acclaimed artists Declan Shalvey (Bog Bodies) and Andrea Sorrentino (Gideon Falls).
THE DISPLACED #1 will be available in comic shops February 14, 2024. It is available for pre-order at your local comic shop. Digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including iBooks, Google Play, and Kindle.
Pretty cool, right? Right?!?
Oshawa is where I grew up and a large part of this book comes from my own feelings of disconnection from a place that I called home for so long. This isn’t the first time I’ve revisited Oshawa in my work, but this is the first time where it’s the centerpiece for all that happens.
Want to see more? Well, AIPT has an exclusive preview of our baby for you to take a gander at.
Need more? How about a video?
The FOC (that’s Final Order Cut-off) for THE DISPLACED #1 is this upcoming Monday, so if you’re interested in our supernatural story of loss, then please let your local comic shop know.
The Tour
To celebrate the release of The Displaced, I’m going to be going on a two-week tour, hitting eight comic shops, kicking it all off in Oshawa! Yes, I’m driving 5,000 km (3,000 miles) in February. What could go wrong?
To help support the tour, I’ll have an exclusive variant cover by your friend and mine, Chip Zdarsky. The tour variant cover will be $20 and is a limited print run of only 500 copies. I’ll be revealing the cover on February 12th right here for you folks, so you’ll get a nice gander before it hits social media.
If any copies remain at the end of the tour, they’ll be listed for sale in my shop.
Predator: Take Three
As mentioned in the last newsletter, I’m writing more Predator! Theta and Paolo return to face their most deadly opponent to date!
AIPT also has an exclusive preview of the first issue of Predator: The Last Hunt #1. Bask in the glory that is Francesco Manna!
Predator: The Last Hunt #1 hits stores on Wednesday, February 21st — yet another reason to come out and see me during the tour!
Dec Tape
My good friend Declan Shalvey was kind enough to have me on his process podcast/livestream Dec Tape earlier this week. If you’ve ever wanted to watch on as we shoot the shit for about 2 hours — talking about our early work, working together on Murder Book, our ill-fated Punisher run, and more — then you’re in luck:
And I’m Out!
Okay, in the interest of sticking to my promise, I’m going to cut this off here. I’ll be back on February 12th to give all you lovelies a first look at that Chip Zdarsky Displaced variant cover. It’s worth the wait!
Also, I haven’t forgotten all of you Lasagna heads out there (click for full image).
See you guys in a few weeks!

Displaced looks dope, Ed! Really looking forward to that one.

Dang, would loved to have had you stop in Enfield, CT. It's close to your route and there is a really large comic shop that would love to host you.
